In this fun informal workshop you can let your creative side go wild and learn how to create that perfect shabby chic look from 40 years experience! Set in the Leicestershire countryside our workshop takes place in  our painting workshop in Norton Juxta Twycross.  You will be greeted by Mick and Laura and will enjoy tea and biscuits on arrival.

Our workshop is for all abilities and as numbers are limited to 4 people, we can give you one to one advice throughout the day.

The workshop begins with a discussion on paint types and essentials tools for upcycling furniture. Then once you have learnt the basics its time to put things into practice!

You will be taught how to professionally prepare furniture and how to correctly apply a range of different techniques including:

Mixing paints
Layering paints
Distressing
Dry brushing
Flogging
Crackle glazing
Colour washing
Decoupage.

Whilst the furniture dries we take a break for lunch where we will have a homemade buffet served on vintage china in the break out area or outside (weather permitting).

In the afternoon you will continue painting your furniture and applying your chosen techniques with guidance from Mick.  Again full course notes are given for future projects at home!

Once you have worked up an appetite afternoon tea is provided!
The price of the class includes all the materials you need on the day, delicious drinks and homemade treats. You also get a free decorative heart to take away with you as inspiration for your first project!

Please bring along a piece of  furniture you would like to paint for example, a chair or small table. If you are bringing items like a picture frame or tray please bring a couple of items to make the most of the workshop!

New website, new workshop, new creative classes oh my!

Well my website is constantly evolving as I learn new things, so I would like to announce a completely new website, new logo, new structure and some new stock!

www.vintiquetree.co.uk

Another new thing is our sparkly new studio, completely designed to host our furniture painting workshops and wallpapering workshops. My dad, Mick, is a talent decorator and will be leading the courses, which is good news for our attendees, as he has over 40 years experience  so when it comes to painting and distressing furniture he can create and teach looks many of the other courses cant offer as they don't know how to do it!

Our furniture painting courses will show you how you can create the perfect shabby chic look with any type of paint, not just chalk paint but any old paint you have lying in the garage! When you know how you can turn any piece of old furniture to look like something Laura Ashley would be proud of for a fraction of the cost!!

Our next course is running 12th June and we are located just 5 minutes off the M42 Junction 11 Leicestershire so we are super easy to find, even in our rural location! £85.00 for a full day learning with all materials and course notes, lunch and yummy afternoon tea. Just bring a piece of furniture you want to relove!!

If you are a budding diy expert or a interiors newbie we also offer wallpaper hanging workshops, Mick, my dad, is the best at  papering, you can never see a join in his wallpaper! So with small classes of just 3 people he can give you all his expertise to help you learn his tricks of the trade. These classes are running from 19th June throughout the summer, £150.00 a day including all the materials, lunch and full course notes, just bring your enthusiasm!

Any hoo if anyone is interest please leave a comment or pop over to the website for further course dates and contact details.

I will leave you with some pictures of our new studio!

I am updating my website at the moment to a new layout to make it easier to use and look a lot more sleeker.  It is a constant evolution as I learn new things and pick up on things that need updating and changing, I think I have come on leaps and bounds really, being as I didn't have a clue on how to even start building a website at the start of this year!

So in preparation for the new website going live this week, I have some new stock I am going to be adding to the site, so I thought I would share some of my new blankets with you! All handmade lovelies!! Oh and a GIANT 9FT vintage Union Jack!

Gatsby style luxury coffee set

With everything Great Gatsby at the minute (super excited for the movie) I HAD to purchase this gorgeous 1960's Phoenix Portmerion coffee set.  It is so decadent even though it is from the sixties it really reminded me of an art deco era I can totally imagine Gatsby sipping from this! Plus it is in pristine condition, not a chip, crack or scratch! I am in love!

It will be available on my website soon...if I can bear to part with it ;-)

George the beautiful british blue boy

I couldn't resist sharing these snaps of George my british blue, he never normally poses for the camera!! Yep I am a crazy cat lady!

Vintage tea party in the sunshine

As the sun was shining over the bank holiday, I did a little photo shoot tea party for my website of a selection of my vintage crockery for hire...

It feels like ages since I have blogged, I have been feeling rubbish and not very inspired so couldn't think of much to share with you all!  However time to get blogging again and to start me off again I thought I would share some of the new items I have in the cabin at Jacksons of Twycross.

As well as a display of my vintage goodies Jackson's stock a host of great things for the home including well built log cabins and sheds for that perfect hideaway in the garden to garden design and a brilliant range of pet food and garden furniture, it is well worth a look this bank holiday, especially if you are thinking about sprucing up your garden and home! Come and have a browse!
