Easter Wallpaper workshop

It has been a while since I have blogged, with moving house, building work and getting stock ready for the spring/summer selling season it has been a busy one!

We did however manage to fit in a Vintique Tree wallpapering workshop over the Easter break. We limit the classes to two people so everyone gets maximum time with my dad, who is the tutor and has been decorating since the early 1970's!

There is a lot more to wallpapering than means the eye, so he starting from the basics and worked up to pattern matching and finally how to paste and hang the wallpaper. Our workshop has been fitted out so you can learn how to paper around corner, switches and even windows!

Check out a few snaps from the wallpapering workshop below!

Battle of Bosworth - the unusual site for a English Christmas fair

At the start of December Vintique Tree had a stand at the Christmas fair which was held at the unusual location of the Battle of Bosworth visitor centre in the picturesque Leicestershire countryside. This location is beautiful in the summer but with twinkling lights and a band singing carols it did feel rather festive!

On offer for shoppers was a  drop of  free mulled wine and a mince pie.  It was a  jolly and festive evening where crafters and sellers came together to sell all of their Christmas stock. With most stalls very reasonably priced you really could pick up something quirky and different for gifts and stocking fillers. All in all it was a successful night and I will definitely be going back for the spring fair!

A summers day at the antiques market

The Vintique Tree stocks were getting low, so, a urgent sourcing mission was needed! Any excuse is good enough to head to an antiques fair so today we took a trip over to the decorative antiques and home show in Lincolnshire, check out our day in photo form! Sorry about the quality they were on my phone!

Blood, sweat, tears and upholstery...

So in early January I began my very first lesson in traditional upholstery.  It is always something I have dreamed of doing, especially when I see an unloved chair crying out for love, so I took the plunge and booked a 10 month course. So far I have learnt that there is A LOT more to it than just stapling fabric on, and the traditional method is wonderfully crafty and technical and folding corners of fabric on to the frame almost had me in tears...but I did it, next week is...stitch and stuff chair omg!!!

The perfect help for hostess and housewife all the year round!

It is sad but true that now the Great British Bake Off has finished I feel a cake shaped whole in my life! However this little beauty, a purchase from ebay helps fill a void, I just couldn't resist. I love the old recipe and home making books, they make for interesting and funny reading! Someone pass me the butter cream!

Pennies spent well at the antiques fair

Well I got a good haul of lovely things to add to my Christmas stock from Stoneleigh Antiques fair.  I had never visited this fair before and is a good size if you just fancy a few hours browsing unlike the other larger fairs where you could stay all day!

I found a lovely vintage sewing basket, some 1970's fabric samplers, vintage tins, a fab royal winton tea set, a hand painted tea pot, a gorgeous Liberty of London purse and wallet set and my personal favourite, a retro cat egg cup!!!
