Easter Wallpaper workshop

It has been a while since I have blogged, with moving house, building work and getting stock ready for the spring/summer selling season it has been a busy one!

We did however manage to fit in a Vintique Tree wallpapering workshop over the Easter break. We limit the classes to two people so everyone gets maximum time with my dad, who is the tutor and has been decorating since the early 1970's!

There is a lot more to wallpapering than means the eye, so he starting from the basics and worked up to pattern matching and finally how to paste and hang the wallpaper. Our workshop has been fitted out so you can learn how to paper around corner, switches and even windows!

Check out a few snaps from the wallpapering workshop below!

New website, new workshop, new creative classes oh my!

Well my website is constantly evolving as I learn new things, so I would like to announce a completely new website, new logo, new structure and some new stock!

www.vintiquetree.co.uk

Another new thing is our sparkly new studio, completely designed to host our furniture painting workshops and wallpapering workshops. My dad, Mick, is a talent decorator and will be leading the courses, which is good news for our attendees, as he has over 40 years experience  so when it comes to painting and distressing furniture he can create and teach looks many of the other courses cant offer as they don't know how to do it!

Our furniture painting courses will show you how you can create the perfect shabby chic look with any type of paint, not just chalk paint but any old paint you have lying in the garage! When you know how you can turn any piece of old furniture to look like something Laura Ashley would be proud of for a fraction of the cost!!

Our next course is running 12th June and we are located just 5 minutes off the M42 Junction 11 Leicestershire so we are super easy to find, even in our rural location! £85.00 for a full day learning with all materials and course notes, lunch and yummy afternoon tea. Just bring a piece of furniture you want to relove!!

If you are a budding diy expert or a interiors newbie we also offer wallpaper hanging workshops, Mick, my dad, is the best at  papering, you can never see a join in his wallpaper! So with small classes of just 3 people he can give you all his expertise to help you learn his tricks of the trade. These classes are running from 19th June throughout the summer, £150.00 a day including all the materials, lunch and full course notes, just bring your enthusiasm!

Any hoo if anyone is interest please leave a comment or pop over to the website for further course dates and contact details.

I will leave you with some pictures of our new studio!

Painting something Pretty

Upcycling unloved furniture has been a passion of mine since we started painting, sanding and polishing vintage furniture for our first home. Only our sofa is new!

Being creative with a paint brush is in my blood as my dad has been a decorator for over 40 years!

Together as part of Vintique Tree, we are going to be holding upcycling workshops in our quaint countryside village hall where you will be able to learn loads of different paint effects from distressing to colour wash painting and how to prep your furniture so you don't have to spend a fortune on posh paints. Plus you will get lots of homemade cake and lunch to help get the creative juices flowing!

We are in the process of sorting out the finer details (like Victoria or chocolate sponge?) but will keep you posted on workshop dates in case anyone is interested!

I spotted this unloved chair in a charity shop and after a bit of paint it has turned into something pretty...I didn't think to take a before photo as the thought to share it will you only just came to me doh!

Oh well here is the finished product!!
